Dave Fusco, PGA
Dave Fusco started playing golf at the age of 9 in his Hudson Valley hometown of Monroe, New York. He became a junior member of Monroe Country Club around 1980. This is where he learned the game, by playing every day with members who were talented golfers. These are the people who helped shape his mannerism and love for the game. As a promising young player, he quickly found his place on the varsity golf team at Monroe Woodbury High School. Dave’s passion for golf led him to playing for the State University of New York at Delhi before transferring to Ramapo College, where he excelled as a golfer for the Roadrunners.
As an amateur golfer and student athlete, Dave’s talent shone brightly. He was a two-time Orange County High School Champion in 1984 and 1985. During his college years, Dave’s prowess earned him victory in three invitational tournaments, qualification for the NJCAA National Championship, and an Honorable Mention in the NCAA Division III National Championship. Notably, in 1986, he became the youngest player to win in the Times Herald Record Men’s Amateur tournament.
It was in 1988 that he made the leap to claim his professional status. Dave’s dedication and exceptional playing ability did not go unnoticed, and in 1998, he achieved a significant milestone by earning his membership in the Professional Golf Association (PGA) of America. Before arriving at Monroe Country Club, Dave honed his skills and knowledge through various roles at several metropolitan area golf courses like Ridgewood (NJ) Country Club, Orange County Golf Club, and Spook Rock Golf Course. In 1996, he elevated his career, becoming the Head Golf Professional at the Philip J. Rotella Golf Course in Thiells, New York. Later, in 2003, he was appointed as the Director of Golf at Patriot Hills Golf Club, where he served for over two decades.
Throughout his professional career, Dave remained a prominent figure in the Metropolitan area’s golf scene. His name found its way onto several tournament winner lists, and he achieved a feat held by the legendary Ben Hogan and Claude Harmon—victory in the Westchester Open, triumphing in both 2001 and 2003. In 2024 he was won the Woodstock Open and Sr. Woodstock Open. The Woodstock Open is believed to be the longest running golf tournament for both professionals as well as top amateurs, held on the same course in the United States. This renowned golf tournament has been attracting golf professionals and top amateurs from Maine to Florida since 1932. Notably, he qualified for four National Club Professional Championships and one Senior National Club Professional Championship.
Dave’s passion for golf extends beyond his personal achievements. An active member of the Metropolitan (MET) Section PGA, he actively contributes to the growth of the game. Currently, he serves as the Chairperson of the Nominating Committee and has previously held roles on the Board of Governors and as a member and Chairperson of the MET PGA Tournament Committee. In recognition of his exceptional work, Dave earned the title of Merchandiser of the Year in 2013.
Beyond golf, Dave enjoys his family life, residing in Goshen, New York, alongside his wife, Marguerite, and their dog, Willow. He takes immense pride in his children, Collin, Kayleigh, and Noelle.
